MANILA — Senator Win Gatchalian has filed a resolution calling for a Senate inquiry into the implementation of the new Government Procurement Act, citing the need to ensure integrity in the use of public funds.

Proposed Senate Resolution 336 aims to assess how the new procurement law is being implemented and to facilitate a smooth transition to its updated procedures.

“It bears noting that a transparent, effective, and efficient government procurement system ensures that public funds are spent judiciously in order to maximize value for money in the delivery of public service and enhances accountability in the use of public funds,” Gatchalian said.

The law, enacted in July 2024, is intended to strengthen transparency, competitiveness, efficiency, accountability, and value for money in government procurement processes.
