MANILA — Malacañang Palace clarified that the increased security presence observed near the complex was part of a routine exercise to test the readiness of personnel.

Claire Castro, Palace Press Officer and Undersecretary at the Presidential Communications Office, said the drill aimed to evaluate the operational preparedness of security units.

“It is just part of a security exercise to test the operational readiness of personnel and units,” Castro told reporters.

The clarification came after photos circulating on social media showing more security personnel near Mendiola sparked speculation that the Palace had been placed on “full alert.”

Mendiola serves as a key access point to the Palace complex, where authorities routinely conduct security measures to safeguard government facilities and personnel.
