MANILA — The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed tax evasion charges against contractor Curlee Discaya before the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) in connection with alleged irregularities in flood control projects.

The complaints, filed on March 12, cite violations of Sections 254 or willful attempt to evade or defeat taxes, and 255 or willful failure to supply correct and accurate information under the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997.

The case was later raffled to the CTA Third Division on March 16.

Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon confirmed that the DOJ had denied Discaya’s motion for reconsideration prior to the filing of the charges.

The DOJ earlier said separate tax evasion cases would be pursued against Discaya and his wife, Sarah Discaya.

The case against Sarah Discaya had already been filed in February and was assigned to the CTA First Division, following Curlee Discaya’s appeal with the DOJ.

In September 2025, the Discaya couple publicly named several lawmakers, their staff, and officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways who were allegedly linked to a corruption scheme involving flood control projects.

Sarah Discaya is currently detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Jail, while Curlee Discaya remains under the custody of the Senate.
