MANILA — About one in three adult Filipinos consider themselves “very happy” with their lives, while a slightly smaller share describe themselves as “very satisfied,” based on the latest Social Weather Survey released by Social Weather Stations.

The nationwide poll, conducted from Nov. 24 to 30, 2025, showed that 33% of respondents rated themselves as “very happy,” while half or 50% said they were “fairly happy.” Meanwhile, 15% described themselves as “not very happy,” and 2% said they were “not at all happy.”

According to SWS, the proportion of “very happy” Filipinos has remained generally steady in recent years, although it is lower than the 43% recorded in December 2023.

In terms of life satisfaction, 28% of respondents said they were “very satisfied,” while 51% were “fairly satisfied.” On the other hand, 14% said they were “not very satisfied,” and 7% were “not at all satisfied.”

The survey also highlighted regional variations in well-being. The Visayas registered the highest proportion of “very happy” respondents at 40%, followed by Mindanao at 34%, Balance Luzon at 32%, and Metro Manila at 24%.

A similar pattern was observed in life satisfaction, with the Visayas posting the highest share of “very satisfied” respondents at 35%, while Metro Manila recorded the lowest at 27%.

Findings further indicated a strong connection between well-being and food security. Respondents who said they had not experienced involuntary hunger reported higher levels of happiness and satisfaction compared to those who had gone hungry.

Education also appeared to play a role, as college graduates posted the highest happiness levels at 41%. Those with higher educational attainment were likewise more likely to report greater life satisfaction.

SWS noted that respondents who experienced improvements in their quality of life over the past year, as well as those who expressed optimism about the coming 12 months, were more likely to say they were happy and satisfied.

The survey, conducted among 1,200 adults nationwide, had a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.

The poll was carried out ahead of the International Day of Happiness, observed every March 20 to highlight the importance of happiness and well-being as global policy goals.
