
MANILA – A total of 425 gas stations across the Philippines have shut down as fuel prices continue to rise, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported.
“Sa araw po na ito March 27, 2026, ang kabuuan ng nagsaradong gas stations ay umabot po ng 425. Kahapon, ito po ay bumaba sa numero na 387, ngunit ito ay nadagdagan sa araw na ito ng 38,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said at a press briefing.
(As of today, March 27, 2026, the total number of closed gas stations has reached 425. Yesterday, it dropped to 387, but it increased today by 38.)
The PNP said it is monitoring 14,485 gas stations nationwide. Tuaño added that six cases have been filed related to hoarding, overpricing, trademark violations, and unfair competition.
The reported incidents occurred in Arteche and Llorente, Eastern Samar; Guinobatan, Albay; Placer, Masbate; Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur; and Guimba, Nueva Ecija.
Police presence has been stepped up at fuel stations, supply depots, and other critical infrastructure to prevent illegal activities and maintain public access to essential services, the PNP said.
Authorities are also coordinating with the Department of Energy (DOE) and local price monitoring offices to keep track of fuel supply and pricing.
The PNP urged citizens to carry on with their daily routines, use fuel responsibly, and rely on official sources for updates.
