
MANILA – K-pop group BTS shared their personal music picks for fans just starting to explore their discography during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Since their debut in 2013, BTS has released five studio albums, seven mini albums, and one anthology album, in addition to songs not officially available on digital platforms.
The members recommended tracks spanning their career:
- “Swim” (2025) – Suga highlighted their latest single from Arirang, a song about perseverance and survival. “We feel that life has struggles that we overcome every day. People feel different weights and tides in life. But nevertheless, we need to keep swimming and move forward. This is just about the love for life itself,” J-Hope said.
- “Mic Drop” (2018) – RM’s choice is a defiant anthem celebrating the group’s rise and global success despite challenges. The track is the seventh song on their fifth mini album Love Yourself: Her, with a popular remix by Steve Aoki.
- “Mikrokosmos” (2019) – V selected this reflective track from Map of the Soul: Persona, which portrays individuals as unique stars in the universe, celebrating human diversity.
- “Spring Day” (2017) – Jimin included this emotional song about loss, longing, and hope, originally from You Never Walk Alone. The track also appears in Japanese on the group’s seventh Japanese single Blood Sweat & Tearsand third Japanese studio album Face Yourself.
- “Dynamite” (2020) – Jimin also recommended this all-English disco-pop hit from Be, released to uplift audiences during difficult times. The song earned BTS their first Grammy nomination.
- “Cypher” series (2013, 2014, 2016) – V highlighted the rap-line tracks spanning multiple albums, showcasing BTS’ lyrical skill and hip-hop roots.
- “Ddaeng” (2018) – V rounded out the list with this fan-favorite rap track, released outside their main studio albums and available on SoundCloud.
Beyond music, the members shared moments from their reunion, including casual appearances in slippers, which RM explained reflects Korean customs. “Because in our country, when you come to somebody’s house, we have to wear slippers, take your shoes off. Korean culture,” he said.
BTS also performed Swim at the Guggenheim Museum in New York and surprised fans during a segment initially thought to be cover recordings. The group’s playful interactions included dancing, a mock meeting, and a game of Twister.
The group made a grand return on Saturday with a performance at Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square. Netflix is set to release a documentary on the making of Arirang, and BTS will begin their world tour in April, with the Philippine stop scheduled for March 2027.
