MANILA – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that the number coding scheme will be lifted from 12 noon of Holy Wednesday, April 1, until Good Friday, April 3.

“Planuhin ang biyahe at mag-ingat sa pagmamaneho,” the MMDA said in an advisory.

The agency has also begun preparations for the expected Holy Week exodus, as thousands of travelers head to the provinces.

On Tuesday, the MMDA and Metro Manila mayors approved a resolution exempting fuel trucks and cargo trucks carrying essential goods from the number coding scheme and truck ban.

MMDA General Manager Undersecretary Nicolas Torre III said at least 2,476 personnel will be deployed across major roads, transportation hubs, and other key areas in Metro Manila during the holiday.

“We will enforce a no day-off and no-absent policy for all traffic and field personnel when heavy traffic is expected due to the Holy Week exodus,” Torre said.
