MANILA — Manila Electric Company (Meralco) assured customers within its franchise areas of stable and reliable electricity service throughout the Holy Week.

In a news release, Meralco Vice President and Corporate Communications head Joe Zaldarriaga said response teams have been deployed and will remain on standby around the clock to address any power-related concerns.

“We join the nation in observing a solemn and safe Holy Week. As a 24/7 service provider, we assure our customers that our crews are fully prepared to respond to any power-related concerns that may arise,” Zaldarriaga said.

The company also reminded customers to observe safety precautions, particularly those planning to leave their homes for an extended period.

Among the advisories are unplugging appliances when not in use or before leaving the house, avoiding the overloading of outlets with extension cords or “octopus” connections, keeping wires properly arranged and away from areas with frequent foot traffic, and ensuring that electrical devices are kept away from water.

For electricity-related concerns, customers may contact Meralco through its mobile numbers 0920-9716211 and 0917-5516211, or via its hotline 16211.

The utility firm added that it can also be reached through its mobile application, My Meralco, as well as its official social media accounts on Facebook and X.

Meanwhile, Meralco said its business centers will be closed from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday (April 2 to 5), with operations set to resume on Easter Monday (April 6).
