MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday urged residents of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to register as voters ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.
Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia reminded the public that the registration period covers both the September 14 BARMM Parliamentary Elections and the November 2 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
“This is 2 in 1. We have the Bangsamoro (Parliamentary Elections), and the BSKE. Be a part of the change. Let our voices be heard,” Garcia said in a Viber message. He emphasized that there will be “no more extension” for voter registration.
From February 9 to March 28, a total of 132,178 residents have registered in the region, with 66,759 male and 64,515 female registrants, according to Comelec data.
BARMM is composed of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Tawi-Tawi, and the Special Geographic Area.
