MANILA — Filipina singer Kristel Herrera delivered a standout performance on the latest episode of Britain’s Got Talent, earning a spot in the next round of the competition.
Herrera, who resides in Halifax, West Yorkshire, performed Whitney Houston’s “Run to You,” captivating the judges and audience alike. She received four yeses from judges KSI, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Stacey Solomon, who was filling in for head judge Simon Cowell, along with a standing ovation from the audience.
“That was sensational. Absolutely outstanding. Like, your technique was 10 out of 10,” Alesha Dixon said.
Amanda Holden added that she was “blown away” and praised Kristel for her stage presence. “What I find extraordinary is how sort of little and shrunk you are,” she said. “And when you sang, you turned into a complete diva, baby.”
Herrera will now move on to the next round, competing for a spot in the live semifinals. Fellow Filipino-blooded singer Matty Juniosa previously received a Golden Buzzer during his audition, which secured his automatic advancement to the live semifinals.
The live semifinals of “Britain’s Got Talent” are set to begin on April 26 at 7 p.m. (April 27, 2 a.m. Philippine time).
