MANILA — Senator Imee Marcos is urging the immediate passage of a proposed measure seeking to ease the burden on Filipinos by reducing taxes as fuel-driven price increases continue to affect basic goods.
Under Senate Bill No. 2005, Marcos is proposing to raise the income tax exemption threshold to ₱500,000 from the current ₱250,000. The measure also seeks to increase the non-taxable ceiling for bonuses, including the 13th month pay and other benefits, to ₱200,000 from ₱90,000.
Marcos said.
She added that if the government is unable to immediately control or resolve the situation, efforts should at least be made to ensure that Filipinos take home higher net income to meet their daily needs.
