MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday denied any involvement in the release of CCTV footage and an affidavit related to a reported altercation at a Davao City bar allegedly involving Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte.
In a statement, the PNP clarified that the videos spreading online did not come from any police unit and emphasized that the footage did not originate from their custody.
“Ang mga video na kumakalat online ay hindi galing sa PNP, at wala ring PNP unit o personnel na naglabas nito,” the agency said.
The PNP also distanced itself from the affidavit of the complainant, which has also surfaced on social media and other digital platforms.
The PNP said it respects the legal process and noted that the case has already been formally filed before the Department of Justice (DOJ). It advised the public to direct any inquiries about the complaint to the DOJ.
While committing to cooperate with any formal request from concerned agencies, the PNP urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information online.
The PNP ended its statement by reaffirming its duty to uphold justice, regardless of the personalities involved.
“Mananatiling tapat ang PNP sa kanyang tungkulin itaguyod ang patas na hustisya at pagsunod sa batas—anumang personalidad o estado sa buhay ang sangkot,” it said.
