MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Monday witnessed the signing of three agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Philippines and Cambodia in law enforcement, education, and air connectivity.
The agreements signed were:
- Amendment to the MOU on police cooperation – expanding the existing accord between the Philippine National Police and the Cambodian National Police to cover human trafficking, arms trafficking, and cybercrime. The amendment also introduces an automatic renewal clause.
- MOU on higher education cooperation – establishing exchanges of officials and training programs between higher education institutions, and promoting collaboration in science, technology, and innovation.
- Air Services Agreement – enabling designated airlines of both countries to enter code-sharing alliances, operate charter flights, and exercise fifth freedom rights, allowing carriers to transport passengers and cargo between the Philippines and Cambodia with a stop in a third country.
The signing was described as a milestone in bilateral ties, highlighting Manila and Phnom Penh’s commitment to enhancing peace, development, and prosperity in the region.
