MANILA — A total of 244 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Bahrain arrived in the Philippines on Good Friday, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said.
In a social media post, OWWA said the repatriates landed at NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay City aboard Gulf Air Flight GF154.
Around 200 OWWA personnel, led by Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan, were deployed at the airport to assist in the arrival of Filipinos from the region.
Another batch of 344 Filipinos from Abu Dhabi is expected to arrive later in the day at Villamor Air Base, according to the agency.
Officials said the coordinated efforts of government agencies aim to ensure an organized and humane reception for returning workers, including the provision of assistance and support services upon arrival.
The repatriation comes as the conflict involving US and Israeli forces and Iran continues to escalate, with violence spreading across parts of the Gulf region.
