Residents of Sitio Capulid personally funded and installed this temporary electric post.

BULAKAN, Bulacan — Residents of Sitio Capulid in Barangay San Francisco are calling on authorities to compel Manila Electric Company (Meralco) to install 17 electric posts that were agreed upon three years ago but remain unfulfilled.

The agreement was reached during the term of former barangay chairman Roberto D. Morelos, covering around 200 families in the area who have since relied on temporary electric posts installed at their own expense.

Residents said the makeshift posts have become hazardous, especially during high tide when flooding submerges the road for up to two days, weakening the structures’ foundations.

Due to these risks, the community has appealed to the local government unit, the National Electrification Administration, and the Department of Energy to intervene and require Meralco to immediately install the permanent electric posts.

Sitio Capulid is located in Barangay San Francisco in Bulakan town, Bulacan, about 45 minutes from Quezon City. (PR)
