MANILA — Senator Imee Marcos rejected claims of an alleged “term-sharing” agreement between Vice President Sara Duterte and President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., calling the allegation a lie made by Ramil Madriaga, a witness in the House impeachment proceedings.
“Sinungaling ka, Madriaga,” Marcos said during a press conference.
She also called on her brother, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., to publicly clarify the matter.
“Kung hindi mo ito ipinag-uutos, walang dahilan para hindi mo itama ang kasinungalingan na ito. Huwag mong kunsintihin ang mga politikong ginagamit ang sinungaling na si Madriaga,” she said.
Marcos stressed that no such agreement exists and recalled discussions in 2021 in which her camp allegedly even pushed for Duterte to run for president rather than settle for the vice presidency.
“Pinipilit nga namin na si Sara ang maging presidente… bakit siya makikishare pa?” she said.
She also denied any involvement of former president Rodrigo Duterte in any supposed arrangement.
“Walang kinalaman si PRRD… kasinungalingan ‘yan,” she said, referring to Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Her remarks came a day after Madriaga was presented as a resource person in House impeachment proceedings involving Vice President Duterte, where his credibility was questioned.
“Hindi ako papayag na gamitin ang dignidad ng kahit anong sangay ng gobyerno para sa kasinungalingan,” Marcos said.
She added that she would continue speaking out against what she described as falsehoods.
“Hindi ako tatahimik… hindi ko hahayaang mailibing ang ating bayan sa kasinungalingan,” she said.
