MANILA — The National Bureau of Investigation – Cybercrime Division (National Bureau of Investigation Cybercrime Division) arrested a male suspect for alleged violations of anti-voyeurism, violence against women and children, grave threats, grave coercion, and robbery.
In a statement, the NBI said the arrest stemmed from a complaint filed on April 10, 2026 by a woman against her former partner, whom she accused of abusive conduct following the end of their relationship in December 2023.
The complainant said their relationship began in 2018 after the suspect allegedly misrepresented himself as single despite being legally married. She further alleged that the suspect later engaged in repeated physical abuse, intimidation, harassment, and unlawful entry even after their separation.
Investigators said that on March 6, 2026, the suspect allegedly forcibly entered the complainant’s residence, assaulted and raped her, and recorded the act without her consent. The video was later allegedly used to threaten, humiliate, and coerce her, and was also disseminated to third parties after she refused his demands.
The suspect was also accused of committing robbery, theft, and issuing grave threats, including an incident on April 16, 2026 in Baclaran, Pasay City, as well as sending death threats via social media while allegedly displaying images of a firearm.
Despite being placed under protective custody, the complainant reportedly continued to receive threats, including a statement from the suspect that he would kill her. On April 18, 2026, he allegedly continued harassing her through video calls and pressured her to meet him while threatening further harm and distribution of the recorded video.
Acting on real-time information, NBI-CCD operatives conducted a hot pursuit operation and arrested the suspect. Authorities said a screwdriver was recovered from his possession during the arrest.
The suspect was brought before the Office of the City Prosecutor in Pasay City for inquest proceedings.
“This arrest sends a strong message that those who exploit, abuse, and instill fear will be found and held accountable. The use of intimate images to threaten, coerce, or humiliate will be pursued with the full force of the law,” NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag said.
He also urged victims of similar offenses to report cases to authorities so appropriate action can be taken.
