MANILA — The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) said it is strengthening public awareness on depositor protection through community-based financial literacy efforts in Quezon City.
Following the rollout of its multimedia out-of-home public awareness campaign in Barangay Holy Spirit, the state deposit insurer conducted interviews and financial literacy sessions with sari-sari store owners and tricycle drivers to assess how the campaign resonated with residents.
The PDIC said the initiative aimed to turn awareness into practical understanding by explaining deposit insurance concepts through simple discussions and real-life examples.
One of the participants, sari-sari store owner Sheila, said the campaign message displayed on her store signage encouraged her to consider placing her savings in a bank instead of keeping cash at home.
Yun po yung plano ko,” she said.
She also expressed appreciation for the campaign materials provided by the PDIC.
Meanwhile, tricycle driver Marlon said the campaign strengthened his confidence in the banking system. He shared that he already maintains two bank accounts and regularly saves money for his family.
After learning about deposit insurance, Marlon said he felt more secure about keeping his money in banks.
The PDIC said the campaign seeks to help small entrepreneurs and transport workers understand the role of deposit insurance and promote trust in the banking system.
The agency said sustained public awareness efforts remain part of its commitment to promoting financial inclusion and confidence in the Philippine banking sector.
Established in 1963 through Republic Act 3591, the PDIC is tasked with protecting depositors and helping maintain stability in the country’s financial system.
