MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said preparations for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are already 90 percent to 95 percent complete, ahead of the polls scheduled on November 2, 2026.

Commission on Elections Chairperson George Garcia said most of the preparations have been completed, including ballot printing and procurement of remaining election equipment.

“Kami sa Comelec, 90% to 95% na kaming handa para sa BSKE,” Garcia said in an interview with Super Radyo dzBB.

Some lawmakers have proposed postponing the elections again and reallocating unused funds for government efforts addressing the energy crisis.

However, Garcia said the elections should proceed to allow voters to choose their local leaders.

Nationwide voter registration for the 2026 BSKE reopened on October 20, 2025, and will continue until May 18, 2026.
