MANILA — Members of the Kowloon House West Chapter (KHWC) are set to hold a protest action on Monday in front of Kowloon House West Avenue in Quezon City, ahead of their scheduled hearing before the National Conciliation and Mediation Board in Intramuros, Manila.

The planned protest comes amid what workers described as escalating retaliation by the management of Katipunan Food Services Inc. (KFSI) following a previous strike action.

Workers alleged that management has implemented anti-worker and anti-union measures, including the alleged illegal closure of company operations, dismissal of employees, filing of criminal complaints related to strike activities, and the transfer of key production equipment. They said these actions indicate possible union-busting and a “runaway shop” scheme.

KHWC members, along with supporters, labor advocates, and allied groups, are expected to join the protest to call for accountability and government intervention over what they described as continued attacks on workers’ rights, including job security and collective bargaining.

The demonstration also comes a week after the workers brought their concerns to Congress through House Resolution No. 974 filed by the Makabayan Bloc, which calls for a legislative inquiry into alleged labor rights violations and anti-worker practices.
