MANILA — Malacañang said it has not received any information regarding alleged destabilization efforts against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr..
In a report, it said that at a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said the government is not aware of any ongoing plans to destabilize the administration.
“Sa ngayon, wala po tayong nadidinig na anumang plano na destab laban sa gobyerno,” Castro said.
(Right now, we have not heard any plans to destabilize the government.)
However, Castro said the Palace is aware of the source of such information and urged the public to remain cautious about misinformation.
“Pero even before naman eh, hindi lang naman ngayon ‘yan eh. Alam naman natin kung saan nanggagaling ‘yan at alam naman natin kung sino ang gusto nilang paupuhin,” she said.
(But that information has been circulating even before, not just now. We know where it’s coming from and we know who they want to put in the position.)
She also reminded the public to remain vigilant against false information.
“So, tayo po, mga kababayan natin, sa mga taumbayan, lagi po na lang tayong magmatyag at maging mapanuri lalong lalo sa mga fake news,” she added.
(So, to our countrymen, let us always be vigilant and critical, especially when it comes to fake news.)
Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. said on Monday that no destabilization activities have been monitored within the active ranks of the Armed Forces of the Philippines amid developments linked to the possible impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
