MANILA — The impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte is set to begin on July 6, Sen. Erwin Tulfo said Thursday.

In an interview on Unang Balita, Tulfo said senators were informed of the schedule during an all-member caucus led by Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.

Tulfo said the trial will likely be held in the afternoons after the Senate’s regular sessions from Monday to Wednesday, while Thursdays will be reserved for regular plenary sessions.

The Office of the Vice President confirmed on Wednesday that it had received the summons from the Senate impeachment court, along with the articles of impeachment.

Vice President Sara Duterte has until June 1 to file her response to the charges.
