MANILA — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) said it plans to file administrative charges against a social media content creator who allegedly recorded himself driving at high speed on an expressway, a video that later went viral online.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said the footage, uploaded on the “Boss J” Facebook page, showed the rider driving a motorcycle at speeds reaching up to 189 kilometers per hour while making multiple overtakes.
“Ang kalsada ay hindi lugar para sa mapanganib na content creation. Ang ganitong uri ng pag-uugali ay naglalagay sa panganib hindi lamang sa sarili kundi pati sa ibang motorista at publiko (The streets are not the place for dangerous content creation. This behavior puts people in danger, not only this rider but also other motorists and the general public),” Lacanilao said.
The LTO issued a show cause order requiring the rider to appear before its Intelligence and Investigation Division at the LTO Central Office on Thursday at 3 p.m. to face charges of reckless driving and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
Authorities said the driver’s license has been temporarily suspended pending investigation, while the motorcycle involved has been placed under alarm.
In the video posted on Saturday, a man is seen riding a green motorcycle at high speed on an expressway and overtaking multiple vehicles.
At the end of the clip, the rider reportedly said he was issued a ticket at the expressway exit for speeding.
