MANILA — More than 2.3 million individuals are expected to take part in the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) scheduled in September, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.

The registered voters come from 2,185 barangays across 108 cities and municipalities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

According to the Comelec, the elections will be conducted through 5,212 clustered precincts located in 1,186 voting centers throughout the region.

George Garcia said voters in BARMM will cast ballots for one Regional Parliamentary Political Party and one candidate for Parliamentary District Representative in their respective districts.

Garcia added that voters would also select six nominees representing Parliamentary Sectoral Organizations.

The sectoral seats include two representatives for settler communities, one for women, one for youth, one for traditional leaders, and one for the Ulama or body of religious scholars.

The first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections are scheduled on Sept. 14, 2026.
