MANILA — The number of registered regular voters has increased to around 71 million ahead of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.
In a media report, it said that Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said the figure is higher than the 68 million regular voters recorded during the 2025 national and local elections.
He also noted that the country now has about 25 million registered Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters.
“More or less kung dati-rati noong 2025 elections ay meron tayong 68 million na botante na regular. Ngayon po meron tayong mga more or less 71 million na regular na mga botante,” Garcia said in an interview with Super Radyo dzBB.
“Ang Sangguniang Kabataan po ay 25 million,” he added.
Garcia said around 5.6 million individuals registered during the October 20, 2025 to May 18, 2026 registration period, while the next voter registration period may resume in February 2027.
He explained that SK voters are aged 15 to 30 years old. Those aged 15 to 17 will be allowed to vote for SK positions only, while those aged 18 to 30 will cast two ballots for both SK and barangay elections.
The Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections are scheduled for Nov. 2, 2026.
