MANILA — Members of the Senate majority bloc did not attend Tuesday’s plenary session, marking the second consecutive absence following the arrest of Senator Jinggoy Estrada, according to Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri.

Zubiri told reporters on Tuesday, June 2, that Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano had relayed the information to the Senate Secretariat regarding the majority bloc’s decision not to appear in session.

No reason was provided for the continued absence of the majority bloc, Zubiri said.

This is the second time the group has skipped a Senate session. The first was on June 1, immediately after Estrada was arrested on plunder charges.
