MANILA — Elias Adili, father of Ateneo men’s basketball player Chukwuemeka Divine Adili, is seeking justice following the athlete’s death in a drowning incident during a team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora last June 8.

In a report, it said that Adili died along with teammate Rene Clert Baterbonia during the activity.

In a social media post on June 12, the grieving father called for accountability as authorities continue to investigate the incident.

“I want justice for my son, Chukwuemeka Divine Adili,” Elias wrote on his social media post.

He also expressed grief over his son’s sudden passing and the family’s emotional pain.

“Divine your Family is highly pained and devastated by your demise out of carelessness, you evaporated like a steam out of our sight. Divine we miss you and our tears seem endless,” he continued.

Earlier, the Nigerian Embassy in the Philippines called for an autopsy on Adili’s remains.

According to Ateneo, Adili’s family has also requested that his body be brought back to Nigeria for funeral and cultural rites.
