MANILA — The action-drama series “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” starring Coco Martin, has expanded its international reach after being aired in 41 countries across Africa.
In a report, it said that the series, known internationally as “Gangs of Manila,” is being broadcast on the StarTimes platform in English, Portuguese, and French.
The expansion comes after the program gained a following among international audiences during its run from 2023 to 2026. It has also built strong engagement on digital platforms, with episode clips attracting significant viewership on StarTimes’ Facebook and TikTok accounts.
The series’ fourth book depicts the final chapter of Tanggol’s journey as he works to restore peace and order in the city while serving as mayor.
“FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” adapted from a film originally starring Fernando Poe Jr., also received multiple recognitions at the inaugural Philippine Arts, Film, and Television Awards (PAFTA). It won Best Drama Series, while Martin was named Best Drama Actor and Maris Racal received Best Breakthrough Performance.
The show concluded its run last March.
Martin is set to return to primetime television in the upcoming action-romance series “Sigabo,” where he will be reunited with his real-life partner Julia Montes.
