MANILA — Consumers are expected to see lower transmission charges in their June 2026 electricity bills after reductions in wheeling and ancillary services (AS) rates, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.

In a briefing on Monday, NGCP Revenue Management head Julius Ryan Datingaling said the overall transmission rate declined by 9.33 percent to PHP1.4492 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for the May 2026 billing period, which will be reflected in this month’s electricity bills. This is lower than the PHP1.5983/kWh recorded in April.

Datingaling attributed the decrease mainly to lower wheeling charges, or the cost of transmitting electricity through the grid, which dropped from PHP0.6028/kWh in April to PHP0.5607/kWh in May.

He also cited a decline in ancillary services rates, which cover pass-through costs from the reserve market and bilateral contract providers used to stabilize the grid during supply and demand fluctuations. The AS rate fell to PHP0.7220/kWh in May from PHP0.8088/kWh in the previous month.

“For the June 2026 electric bill of end consumers, NGCP charges only 56 centavos per kWh for the delivery of its services,” NGCP said in a statement.

NGCP officials added that the transmission service provider does not earn beyond the level authorized by regulators, as its revenues are capped under rules set by the Energy Regulatory Commission.
