MANILA — The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) is leading the nationwide observance of the 24th Depositor Protection and Awareness Week (DPAW) from June 16 to 22, 2026, as part of efforts to promote depositor protection, financial literacy, and public confidence in the banking system.
This year’s observance carries the theme, “Kapag sa bangko may ipon, handa anumang panahon,” highlighting the importance of saving in banks to help individuals prepare for emergencies and future financial needs.
According to the PDIC, the campaign serves as a reminder for Filipinos to develop the habit of saving in banks, particularly amid current economic challenges affecting many households.
The agency also emphasized that deposits in banks are protected by deposit insurance of up to P1 million per depositor, per bank.
The annual observance is held pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 358, series of 2003, and supports the government’s efforts to advance financial inclusion and sustain economic growth.
To expand the campaign’s reach, the PDIC has encouraged banks, banking associations, and partners from both the public and private sectors to display DPAW information materials in their offices and digital platforms.
The corporation will also roll out information campaigns through online magazine features, social media content, and engagements with media organizations.
Through the weeklong observance, the PDIC aims to help the public better understand the benefits of keeping savings in banks and the importance of making informed financial decisions.
Additional information on the campaign is available through the PDIC’s official Depositor Protection and Awareness Week information page.
