MANILA — The Bureau of Animal Industry (Bureau of Animal Industry) has clarified that African Swine Fever (African Swine Fever) cases detected in Nueva Vizcaya this year do not indicate an ongoing widespread outbreak, stressing that the incidents were isolated and already contained.
The agency said the reported cases were promptly addressed and remain under control, with no evidence of transmission or wider spread in the province.
Data from the Provincial Veterinary Services Office (Provincial Veterinary Services Office) showed that 23 ASF cases were recorded in 2026 across the municipalities of Kasibu, Bayombong, and Villaverde. Veterinary authorities said these were localized cases that were managed through surveillance activities, movement restrictions, and disease containment measures.
Authorities also reported that the ASF case detected in Kasibu in February 2026 has already been contained through a coordinated response involving the PVSO, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office, and the BAI. The case involved a single farmer and is no longer considered active based on ongoing monitoring results.
The BAI assured the public and the swine industry that veterinary agencies continue to monitor the situation closely and are implementing control measures to prevent further spread of the disease. It also urged farmers to immediately report suspected cases and strictly observe farm biosecurity protocols to support early detection and containment efforts.
