MANILA — The Department of Justice (DOJ) has received the highest audit opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA) for fiscal year 2025, marking what it described as a strong validation of its financial management and accountability systems.

In a news release on Friday, the DOJ said it was granted an “unmodified opinion,” the most favorable audit rating issued by COA.

The report stated that the DOJ’s financial statements as of Dec. 31, 2025 were fairly presented, with transactions properly authorized and recorded, and assets safeguarded against unauthorized use or disposition in accordance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).

The DOJ said that under Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida, its financial statements were prepared in compliance with IPSAS and supported by internal control and financial management systems.

“We need to assure our countrymen that the DOJ stays anchored in the pursuit of justice, and most importantly, on the transparent and responsible handling of public funds that will be allotted to the betterment of society,” Vida said.

The department said the COA rating reflects its continued efforts to uphold transparency and accountability in the use of public resources.

The COA, under Article IX-D of the 1987 Constitution, serves as the supreme audit institution of the government, with authority to conduct financial, compliance, and performance audits in line with international standards.
