MANILA — About 15,000 transport workers nationwide have received more than P55 million in cash assistance under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD)–Tuloy Pasada program.

As of June 22, a total of 15,044 workers in the transport sector benefited from the aid, which was intended to help ease the impact of rising fuel prices and ongoing economic uncertainty linked to tensions in the Middle East.

The assistance also covered maritime transport workers in the Dinagat Islands, including beneficiaries from passenger vessels operating in the province.

The program, which started in April, provides temporary employment and income support for drivers and other workers in the transport sector.
