MANILA – The southwest monsoon (habagat) continues to affect Extreme Northern Luzon, while localized thunderstorms are expected to bring isolated rainshowers over the rest of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Friday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

The weather bureau warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms in these areas.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms, with the same risk of flash floods or landslides during severe weather.

Meanwhile, a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was spotted 2,965 kilometers east of Southeastern Mindanao as of 3 a.m.

The weather disturbance was packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center, gustiness of up to 55 kph, and was moving northwestward slowly.

PAGASA said the entire country will experience light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast to southwest, with slight to moderate coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
