MANILA – The southwest monsoon (habagat) is affecting the western section of Northern Luzon, while localized thunderstorms are expected to bring isolated rainshowers over the rest of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Saturday.
In its 4 a.m. public weather forecast, PAGASA said the Ilocos Region, Apayao, Abra, Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, and Zambales will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
The weather bureau warned that severe thunderstorms in these areas may trigger flash floods or landslides.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms, with the same risk of flash floods or landslides during severe weather.
PAGASA said the entire country will experience light to moderate winds coming from the south to southwest, while coastal waters nationwide will be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.
For the 24-hour period ending 8 p.m. Friday, PAGASA recorded a minimum temperature of 26.0°C at 5 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 33.3°C at 3 p.m. Relative humidity ranged from a minimum of 52 percent at 2 p.m. to a maximum of 89 percent at 5 a.m.
In Metro Manila, sunrise on Saturday was at 5:36 a.m., while sunset is expected at 6:29 p.m. Moonrise is at 9:09 a.m., moonset at 9:38 p.m., and lunar illumination is at 21 percent.
