MANILA – The southwest monsoon (habagat) will continue to affect the western sections of Luzon and Visayas, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Monday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Lanao del Norte will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms could trigger flash floods or landslides in affected areas.

The rest of the country will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms, with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds from the southwest to west will prevail over Visayas, Mindanao, and the western section of Luzon, where coastal waters will remain slight to moderate with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.

The rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate winds coming from the southeast to southwest, with slight to moderate coastal waters measuring 0.6 to 1.8 meters.

PAGASA recorded a minimum temperature of 26.2 degrees Celsius at 7 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 32.6 degrees Celsius at 2 p.m. during the 24-hour period ending 8 p.m. Sunday.

Relative humidity ranged from a low of 60 percent at 2 p.m. to a high of 89 percent at 8 a.m.

In Metro Manila, sunrise is at 5:36 a.m. while sunset is at 6:29 p.m. The moon is expected to rise at 10:51 a.m. and set at 10:52 p.m., with 40 percent illumination.
