MANILA – The southwest monsoon and the trough of a low pressure area (LPA) will continue to bring rains over several parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 24-hour public weather forecast issued at 4 a.m. Wednesday.

PAGASA said the southwest monsoon will affect Mindanao and Palawan, while the trough of the LPA will influence the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and the Visayas.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Mindanao, Western Visayas, the Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, and Palawan due to the southwest monsoon. PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides caused by moderate to at times heavy rains.

The trough of the LPA will bring similar weather conditions over the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas, with moderate to at times heavy rains that could also trigger flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. PAGASA advised residents to remain alert for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds from the southwest to west will prevail over Mindanao and Palawan, with slight to moderate coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

Meanwhile, Visayas, Central Luzon, and the rest of Southern Luzon will experience light to moderate winds from the northeast to northwest, with slight to moderate seas of 0.6 to 1.5 meters.

The rest of Luzon will have light to moderate variable winds and slight to moderate coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 meters.

PAGASA recorded a minimum temperature of 25.6°C at 5 a.m. Tuesday and a maximum temperature of 33.3°C at 2 p.m. The minimum relative humidity was 59% at 3 p.m., while the maximum relative humidity reached 94% at 5 a.m. Tuesday.

In Metro Manila, sunrise is at 5:37 a.m., while sunset is expected at 6:28 p.m. Wednesday.
