MANILA — Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Tuesday said he and his team have turned over to the Office of the Ombudsman documentary and testimonial evidence they gathered on alleged anomalous infrastructure projects in Taguig City for further evaluation and possible investigation.

In a post on X, Lacson said the evidence was submitted for the Ombudsman’s “motu proprio” investigation and may support the filing of criminal cases against those found responsible.

“This morning, we turned over to the Office of the Ombudsman for their further evaluation and ‘motu proprio’ investigation all the documentary and testimonial evidence, i.e. official records culled from government websites, while others were supplied by reliable sources, that we have gathered so far,” Lacson said.

“We are looking at cases of plunder, malversation, violations of the Anti Graft and Corrupt Practices Act (RA 3019), etc.,” he added.

Lacson claimed the alleged irregularities in Taguig differed from the questionable flood control projects his team had previously examined in Bulacan.

According to the senator, the alleged anomalies involved what he described as a combination of “old and new tricks,” including the alleged use of an illegal reclamation project presented as slope protection works, ghost projects, double appropriations, and the use of recycled photographs from previously completed contracts to support new billings.

He said the alleged scheme dates back to 2019.

“For the period 2020-2025 alone, Taguig has accumulated P14.4B worth of infra projects and still counting,” Lacson said.

The senator said his team would continue gathering and submitting additional evidence to the Ombudsman.

“We hope the excellent research and investigative work that my staff did in this regard won’t be wasted and will contribute to the Ombudsman’s efforts to expedite their investigation,” he said.

Lacson also reiterated that his team would continue pursuing its investigation.

“We assure the Office of the Ombudsman, we won’t relax. We will ‘kalkal’ pa more!” he said.
