MANILA – The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over parts of Southern Luzon and the Visayas on Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the LPA was estimated at 3 a.m. to be 960 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon.

The state weather bureau said the trough of the weather disturbance will affect the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Quezon, and Marinduque.

PAGASA warned that moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides in affected areas.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. The weather bureau said severe thunderstorms may also cause flash floods or landslides.

Light to moderate winds from the south to southwest will prevail over Mindanao, where coastal waters will be slight to moderate with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.

Across Luzon and the Visayas, light to moderate winds from the northeast to northwest will continue to prevail, with slight to moderate coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 meters.
