MANILA – The Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) has ordered an online gaming company to pay more than P30 million in deficiency value-added tax (VAT) for 2019.

In a 24-page decision dated July 28, the CTA Special Second Division directed I-Cyberworld Biz, an online gaming firm based in Kamuning, Quezon City, to settle PHP30.7 million in deficiency VAT.

The tax court also authorized the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to levy the company’s assets in an amount sufficient to satisfy its tax liabilities.

In addition, the CTA ordered the firm to pay delinquency interest of PHP10,094 per day beginning July 1, 2022 until the deficiency tax is fully paid.

According to the decision, the deficiency VAT stemmed from approximately PHP138 million in income representing operators’ shares from gaming revenues.
