MANILA – The southwest monsoon or Habagat will continue to bring rains over Luzon and the western section of Visayas on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan will experience monsoon rains, with moderate to heavy and at times intense rainfall that may trigger flash floods and landslides.

Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro will have occasional rains due to the southwest monsoon. Moderate to heavy rains may also cause flash floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, Western Visayas, the rest of Cagayan Valley, the rest of CALABARZON, the rest of MIMAROPA, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms may also trigger flash floods and landslides.

For coastal areas, strong southwesterly winds and rough seas with waves reaching 2.8 to 4 meters are expected over the northern and western sections of Luzon.

The rest of Luzon will have moderate to strong southwesterly winds and moderate to rough seas, with waves of 1.5 to 3.4 meters. Visayas and Mindanao will experience moderate to strong south to southwesterly winds and waves of 1.2 to 3.1 meters.

A Tropical Storm Peilou (2616) was located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 3 a.m., about 2,515 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon. It had maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center, with gustiness of up to 80 kph, and was moving east-southeastward at 25 kph.
