MANILA — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a Show Cause Order (SCO) against Niño Muhlach whose vehicle crashed into three establishments and a parked motorcycle along Marcos Highway in Antipolo City, Rizal.

The incident occurred after the actor allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to cross into the opposite lane before hitting the establishments and the motorcycle. One person was injured in the crash, according to the LTO, citing an incident report from the Antipolo Component City Police Station.

The actor admitted that he was driving the vehicle and said he fell asleep at the wheel due to extreme fatigue. He also expressed his willingness to assume personal and legal responsibility for the incident, including addressing the needs of the injured person and the property damage.

The LTO directed the registered vehicle owner and designated driver to appear before its Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) on Aug. 28, 2026, for a hearing and to submit sworn explanations and supporting documents.

The actor may face charges for Reckless Driving and possible suspension or revocation of his driver’s license for being deemed an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.

Pending the investigation, the LTO placed the vehicle under alarm status and ordered the actor to surrender his driver’s license to the IID. His license will be subject to a 90-day preventive suspension.

“Bago pa man paandarin ang sasakyan, dapat alam na ng driver kung kaya niyang manatiling alerto hanggang sa makarating sa kaniyang destinasyon. Kung pagod o inaantok, huwag nang ipilit ang pagmamaneho,” LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao said.

Lacanilao said the agency will ensure that the case undergoes due process, adding that drivers must exercise caution and avoid driving when fatigued or drowsy.
