MANILA—The southwest monsoon will continue to affect Luzon and Visayas on Monday, bringing occasional rains over parts of western Luzon and scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila and other areas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 4 a.m. 24-hour public weather forecast, PAGASA said Zambales, Bataan, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro will experience occasional rains due to the southwest monsoon, with moderate to heavy rains potentially triggering flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Antique, and the rest of Central Luzon, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas may also cause flash floods or landslides.

The rest of Luzon and Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon. Severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms, with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Krovankh, formerly known as “Pilandok,” was outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 3 a.m.

The tropical cyclone was located 1,155 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon at 25.9°N, 131.7°E, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

It was moving eastward at 10 kph.

For wind and coastal water conditions, Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds from the southwest to west, with moderate to rough coastal waters measuring 1.5 to 2.8 meters.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds from the southwest, with slight to moderate coastal waters of 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

In Metro Manila, sunrise is at 5:44 a.m. and sunset at 6:04 p.m. Moonrise is at 1:36 a.m. and moonset at 3:04 p.m., with 17 percent moon illumination.
