MANILA – The southwest monsoon will continue to bring rains over parts of Luzon and the Visayas, while the trough of Tropical Depression “Krovanh” will affect Northern Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday.

In its 4 a.m. 24-hour public weather forecast, PAGASA said Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro will experience occasional rains due to the southwest monsoon.

Moderate to heavy rains in these areas may trigger flash floods or landslides.

The Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and Aurora will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of “Krovanh,” with moderate to heavy rains also potentially causing flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Aklan and Antique will likewise have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon. PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of the Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also due to the southwest monsoon. Severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms, with similar risks during severe thunderstorms.

Winds, coastal waters

Northern Luzon will experience light to moderate winds coming from the northeast to northwest, with coastal waters expected to be slight to moderate at 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

The rest of Luzon and the Visayas will have light to moderate southwesterly winds, with coastal waters also ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds from the south to southwest, with coastal waters expected to range from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.

For the 24-hour period ending at 8 p.m. Tuesday, the minimum temperature recorded was 24.6°C at 5 a.m., while the maximum temperature reached 28.1°C at 2 p.m.

Relative humidity ranged from a minimum of 84 percent at 2 p.m. to a maximum of 97 percent at 6 a.m.

In Metro Manila, sunrise is at 5:45 a.m. and sunset at 6:02 p.m. Wednesday. The moon rose at 3:42 a.m. and is expected to set at 4:41 p.m., with 4 percent illumination.
