MANILA—The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Western Visayas, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro and Palawan on Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA said moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas could trigger flash floods or landslides.

The Negros Island Region and Zamboanga Peninsula may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, also due to the southwest monsoon. Severe thunderstorms in these areas may cause flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms, with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The southwest monsoon is currently affecting the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Dujuan (2625) was outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 3 a.m. Saturday.

The typhoon was located 2,000 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon at 26.4°N, 140.5°E, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.

It was moving northwestward at 20 kph.

For the wind and coastal water conditions, Visayas and Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds from southwest to west, with coastal waters ranging from slight to moderate at 0.6 to 1.8 meters.

The western section of Southern Luzon will have light to moderate winds from southwest to southeast, with coastal waters at 0.6 to 1.8 meters.

The rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate winds from northeast to northwest, with coastal waters also ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.
