MANILA— Several areas in Luzon and the Visayas may experience scattered rains and thunderstorms on Tuesday, with possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rainfall, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 4 a.m. weather forecast, PAGASA said the Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the easterlies.

Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of CALABARZON will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Flash floods and landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

Similar weather conditions are expected in the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms, while Batanes and the Babuyan Islands will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains under the influence of the northeasterly windflow.

PAGASA said moderate winds from the northeast to east will prevail over Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and the Visayas. Coastal waters in these areas will be moderate, with wave heights of 1.5 to 2.1 meters.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds from the southeast to east, with coastal waters ranging from slight to moderate and wave heights of 0.6 to 1.8 meters.

Meanwhile, a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility was located 2,970 kilometers east of Central Luzon as of 3 a.m. Tuesday, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 70 kph.

The tropical depression was moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.

For Metro Manila, sunrise is expected at 5:47 a.m. and sunset at 5:38 p.m. The moon is expected to rise at 7:46 a.m. and set at 7:18 p.m., with 8% illumination.
