MANILA— Filipino nationals were among those injured in a passenger bus accident in Fogars de Montclús, Barcelona, Spain, on Oct. 25, the Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona confirmed.

In a statement dated Oct. 27, the Consulate said it had contacted the affected Filipinos and was coordinating with local hospitals and police authorities to monitor their condition and determine their consular assistance needs.

Consulate representatives also visited Filipino nationals who remained hospitalized to check on their condition, provide support, and assess what assistance they might require.

The Consulate expressed sympathy to everyone affected by the accident and wished the injured a full and speedy recovery.

It said it would continue coordinating with relevant authorities and providing necessary consular assistance.

Spanish authorities are still investigating the cause and circumstances of the accident, according to the Consulate, which said further updates would be issued once information had been confirmed, with due consideration for the privacy and welfare of those involved.
