MANILA— The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday warned of scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms in Metro Manila and several parts of Luzon due to a shear line, with possible flash floods and landslides in areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall.
In its 4 a.m. public weather forecast on Oct. 29, PAGASA said the shear line is affecting the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, while the northeast monsoon is bringing weather disturbances to Northern Luzon and the rest of Central Luzon.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Aurora, Bulacan, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur.
PAGASA warned that moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas could trigger flash floods or landslides.
Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region and Nueva Ecija will experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon, while the Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms may also trigger flash floods or landslides.
PAGASA said moderate to strong winds from the northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, with coastal waters expected to range from moderate to rough, reaching 1.5 to 3.4 meters.
The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds from the northeast to east, with slight to moderate coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
The agency advised the public to remain alert for possible flooding and landslides, particularly in areas vulnerable to heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms.
