MANILA— President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the government is making additional sea transport arrangements for Filipinos traveling to their home provinces during Undas, with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) allowing flexible shipping schedules and extra ferry trips from October 29 to November 3.

In a video message on Friday, Marcos said MARINA would issue relaxation orders and special permits to accommodate the expected increase in passenger traffic on selected routes.

“Maglalabas din ang MARINA ng relaxation orders at special permits mula October 29 hanggang November 3 upang mas maluwag ang schedule ng pagbiyahe ng mga pampasaherong barko at magkaroon ng mga karagdagang biyahe sa ilang ruta kung kinakailangan,” the President said.

The measure forms part of the government’s preparations to provide safer and more convenient transportation during the Undas break.

Marcos also reported that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) had issued more than 1,000 special permits for additional bus trips.

Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation and its attached agencies are inspecting airports, seaports and bus terminals to ensure the safety of passengers during the holiday travel period, he said.
