MANILA— Several parts of the country, including the Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol Region and MIMAROPA, will experience scattered rains and thunderstorms on Saturday due to a low pressure area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
In its 4 a.m. weather forecast, PAGASA said the LPA was estimated at 3 a.m. at 320 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.
The weather bureau warned of possible flash floods and landslides in affected areas due to moderate to, at times, heavy rains.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are also expected over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora and Quezon due to the shear line affecting the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon.
The same weather conditions may trigger flash floods or landslides in these areas.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley, with no significant impact expected.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides.
PAGASA also reported that Typhoon In-fa (2631), which remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, was located 2,245 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon at 3 a.m.
The typhoon had maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 205 kph. It was moving northwestward at 25 kph.
Light to moderate winds from the northeast to east will prevail over Luzon and the Visayas, while Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds from the southwest to southeast.
Coastal waters across Luzon and the Visayas will be slight to moderate, with waves reaching 0.6 to 2.5 meters. In Mindanao, waves are expected to reach 0.6 to 1.8 meters.
In Metro Manila, sunrise is expected at 5:51 a.m. and sunset at 5:28 p.m. The moon is expected to rise at 10:26 p.m. and set at 10:53 a.m., with 65% illumination.
